Getting around Singapore is simple and convenient. The whole island is connected by efficient public transportation, taxis, and easy-to-use ride-hailing apps. Here’s a quick guide to making your way around town during your visit for LIFC.

MRT: Singapore’s Rapid and Reliable Trains

Singapore’s MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is an easy way to zip around the city. Trains run regularly and frequently, connecting you quickly to attractions, shopping centres, and dining hotspots. Plus, they’re air-conditioned!

You can pay your fares directly by tapping your credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, and, starting May 2025, American Express). If you’d prefer, grab an EZ-Link card – Singapore’s popular stored-value transit card which you can buy and top up at train stations, convenience stores, and many shops.

Use navigation apps like Google Maps, Citymapper, MyTransport.SG to plan your journey.

LIFC’s hotel, One Farrer Hotel, is directly above Farrer Park Station! For more details, check out the Venue page.

Buses: Scenic and Convenient Journeys

Want to enjoy Singapore’s sights along the way? The bus system is your best bet. Bus stops are well-marked and frequent, and bus routes cover every corner of Singapore, servicing areas the MRT doesn’t reach.

Just like MRTs, buses accept credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) for direct tapping, as well as the EZ-Link card. Simply tap your card upon entry and again when you exit.

Bus route details are available at bus stops and clearly labelled, but to make things simpler, use navigation apps like Google Maps, Citymapper, or MyTransport.SG for easy navigation, real-time bus schedules, and directions on when to hop off!

Private Hire & Taxis: Fast and Comfy Rides

When you’re in a hurry, have luggage, or just want door-to-door convenience, taxis and private hire services are available island-wide.

Grab, Ryde, Gojek, Tada, and Zig are Singapore’s ride-hailing apps. All accept credit or debit card or cash, allow you to track pricing upfront, and let you book rides effortlessly.

There are also traditional taxis that you can wave down streetside. They all accept cash, but not all accept card. Check with the driver to make sure you can if you’re looking to do so.

Surcharges may apply for various instances, such as pick up from the airport, crossing tolls at Sentosa, or late-night journeys after midnight. Do budget accordingly!

That’s it – you’re all set to explore Singapore with confidence. Happy travels, and see you at LIFC! 🎮🐾
